I saw my first bouquet of Iceland poppies a couple of years ago, and it was love at first sight. In case you’ve never seen one in person, imagine a delicate, whimsical flower with tissue-thin petals and long, fuzzy Dr. Suess-esque stems that twist and turn in all directions. But my favorite part of an Iceland poppy is the neon yellow center: what a showstopper. It’s so much fun to paint that I save it for last. Just like dessert.
