Nature is one of my primary sources of inspiration. But I've been experimenting with others sources of color inspiration, too. I had the thought to use one of my favorite flower paintings as a starting point, and that’s exactly what I did with this piece.

It was inspired by the color palette from a painting of five marigold flowers I did a couple of years ago. The marigolds in the painting are orange and yellow. And the background is a variety of delicious cool greens. The combination of those warm flowers with that cool background that makes my brain happy.

I LOVE the colors in that painting, and I wanted to play with the same orange/green combinations again and see what would happen. As it turns out, I love this painting too! These colors sing.
