This painting was inspired by a beautiful North African wool rug. As such, I wanted this piece to have a textured, weathered, woven feeling to it. I used colored pencil to contrast with the paint. The pencil looks a bit like thread, and brought to mind the kind of thread work you’d see on a quilt or rug.
The color palette is fiery and warm. There’s also a splash of fluorescent pink.

Framed in an elegant maple wood floater frame, 1 ¼” deep. Premium hardwood.
