Two zinnias and a sunflower from Prickly Pair Flower Farm near Austin, Texas. This summery trio was painted in August, and this work represents a different style of painting for me. I did two paintings of the same flowers before this one, and didn’t like either one. So I decided to simplify everything: the floral design/arrangement, as well as my approach to painting the flowers, just to see what would happen. The result was this work, which I really love. I haven’t done anything that looks like this since!
The title is a line from A Course in Miracles: “Light and joy and peace abide in me.”
